Hi Actors,
This is Chidube! I made this page, so that I can get to know you. As an emerging playwright, I need actors for readings and workshops. However, because readings and workshops often do not have proper auditions I typically do not get the opportunity to see actors in the context of my work before making casting decisions. This means that actors do not get a real opportunity to understand what they are submitting for when they see a submission opportunity for one of my plays.
I wanted to launch this page, so that I can hopefully bridge that gap. I want to give actors a better opportunity to understand the tone of my writing and to showcase how they fit into the world of my plays. Thus, when an opportunity emerges I can know who is out there and who might be right for the role. Basically, this is me saying, I want to know that you exist and I want to see what you can do!
On this page I will provide some samples of my writing as well as a google form for you to submit materials to me. There is no need to record new materials for this submission, though you are welcome to submit one of the sample scenes listed below. This is just a way to introduce yourself to me as an actor outside of an actual audition setting. Please feel free to submit pre-recorded monologues and scenes.
Please note that my work specifically features Black gay men, so I want to make sure this page reaches Black gay male actors. However, submissions are welcome from all people especially Black people and LGBTQ+ people of all races!
